I am on board with the Michael Pollan approach, but it is still extremely unscientific. How can we be expected to survive the challenges brought on by space travel, global warming, or overpopulation if we can't answer the basic question of what the human body needs to thrive? We have to come up with a better answer than "just do/eat what you are evolutionary used to".
