The issues you are describing, I remember having them in Android 2'ish era. For the past many years, I have had an extremely stable and positive experience with Android. I have even used cheap android devices like Moto E4 without any problems at all. I am not sure what you are doing with your phones. Android is the most common phone OS, it's not nearly as bad as what you experienced.
