That is amazing. It reminds me of a snowman or two snowballs frozen together, except it's red not white. As seen in the combined image. http://pluto.jhuapl.edu

- kylek 8y agoReminded me of 67p (albeit that is slightly more rubber-ducky shaped) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/67P/Churyumov%E2%80%93Gerasimenko https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/67P/Churyumov%E2%80%93Gerasime...

- stcredzero 8y agoIt reminds me of a snowman or two snowballs frozen together, except it's red not white. The 21st century world of asteroid and Kuiper belt colonization is going to be far fluffier and squishier than we thought it would be in 80's Sci-fi!
- rhizome 8y agoComet 67P has a similar shape. I have to wonder if there's something inherent in these flying rocks that causes them to take a dumbbell shape.
- antonvs 8y agoThe inherent factor is collision, which is what forms most objects like this.
- TeMPOraL 8y agoHuh, given the color photo, it reminded me of a potato. Yes, I really did find a potato looking like this once.
