Grasshopper 3d (https://www.grasshopper3d.com https://www.grasshopper3d.com) is a pretty intuitive tool based around similar ideas but for the creation of 3D surfaces and meshes. My two main insights from using it is that 1. visible intermediate data matters a lot, as PANE points out, and 2. Grasshopper figured out a pretty clever and powerful system of trees and branches for grouping data together. Ever since using it I've been thinking that the world needs something similar but for data in general. Hope that PANE will be it.
