- cruella_deville 8y ago^ that happened and gov AZ said yah whatever $$$ is good
- DannyBee 8y agoYeah, it's not possible that they considered the issue delicately and decided something that disagrees with this person's opinion. It was definitely money.
- a1369209993 8y agoExactly. Allowing campaign contributions and failing to punish lobbying and post-term kickbacks fundamentally undermines possibility of a government actually representing it's citizens.
- DannyBee 8y agoI think folks like you are going to be super super disappointed when we succeed in passing campaign finance reform (which i think we will!), and roughly nothing changes. My guess is that you'll go back to just blaming everyone else being ignorant for them not agreeing with you.
- cruella_deville 8y ago...Yup you got it pegged sounds like you know AZ very well.
- darkerside 8y agoI don't know AZ very well, but knowing a bit about how government and organizations work, I'm inclined to suspect you have good reason to be suspicious. That said, examples would strengthen your case more than sarcasm.
- dang 8y agoCould you please not post unsubstantive comments to Hacker News?
- reaperducer 8y agoIf they have a problem with it, they should take it up with the state government of Arizona Passing the buck is a very SV-centric response to importnat issue. Like Google's response from the CCC the other day saying, "Yeah, we track people in bad ways, but everyone else does it too, so it's OK." "Oh, our self-driving car isn't responsible for killing a pedestrian. It's the governor of Arizona who allowed us to kill the pedestrian who is to blame. Go after him! We're only responsible to shareholders, and the kid wasn't a shareholder."
- kodablah 8y ago> Passing the buck is a very SV-centric response to importnat issue. Eschewing responsibility is a very SV-targeted response to an important local issue. I'd rather these decisions be made at the local government level instead of having outliers in the community (i.e. your neighbors) appeal to higher authority usurping democracy. Especially when those squeaky wheels are throwing rocks, claiming the company others asked to have in town are passing the buck, etc.
