My personal theory is that an absolutist vocabulary of thinking ("always", "never", "very/extremely") diminishes the possibilities / opportunities perceived by the person. This leads to a feeling of helplessness, which leads to a lack of motivation, which in turn becomes a self-fulfilling vicious cycle.

Unreal Engines mirroring floors where done that way. Thats why launching and advertising for fake products, and similar endavours are often a net positive. Somebody at some other company sees that, and gets into a "we must do that too frenzy". Imagine the world, if Lockheed started a advertising campaign for a working fusion reactor in a box right now. The paniced race to market everyone suddenly would be in.
