I think a generally cheaper and easier way to manage it would be to require all children, rich and poor, go to the same schools. The economic factors would change pretty dramatically for being a public school teacher.
- whatshisface 8y agoWhat if the rich parents disagree with the poor parents about how the school should be run?
- jonathankoren 8y agoThat's what school board elections are for.
- bittercynic 8y agoThey might have to compromise, and find solutions that work for both.
- barry-cotter 8y agoYeah, individuals should be subordinate to the state. They should do what the government tells them to, when it tells them to, how it tells them to. Everything for the state, nothing outside the state, nothing against the state. Mussolini
- ntsplnkv2 8y agoSeems to me that private school tuition should be taxed to provide benefits to public schooling. The rich would still afford private school. Public schools get more funding.
- tomschlick 8y agoPeople paying for private schools still pay school taxes for the public district they reside in. You'd basically be double taxing which would probably fail in a court challenge.
- CydeWeys 8y agoThis is only possible if school is no longer a physical place (i.e. everyone does school online). So long as school is in a physical space, it needs to be one relatively close to you, and then you're not close to giving everyone the same experience, as prosperity and educational attainment differ in granularity by more than a school bus can travel every day.
- therealdrag0 8y agoCould at least stop basing school funding off of local taxes. Children's education shouldn't be tied to their parent's wealth.
