Feathers and Fur Fly Over Pterosaur Fossil Finding
- xupybd 8y agoPay wall :(
- chillwaves 8y agoHere is a non paywall link. http://archive.is/2xYem http://archive.is/2xYem
- mark-r 8y agoI've taken to opening every nytimes article in an incognito window, it seems to help. Probably too late for you now though. Somehow they seem to feel that there's nothing in between a casual observer and someone who gets a vital portion of their news from them. I wouldn't mind slipping them a few bucks, and I've done so for the Guardian, but their full subscription rate is just too steep for what I would gain from it.
- doodpants 8y agoDefeating nytimes's paywall is a simple matter of disabling Javascript in your browser.
- dorkwood 8y agoThe internet needs some sort of fast, widely acceptable pay-with-one-click system. If the article asked me to pay 10 cents to read, I'd do it.
- shakna 8y agoEasy enough to implement with the Payment Request API [0], which is a standard, and implemented in most browsers, and most payment processors. [0] https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Payment_Request_API https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Payment_Req...
- xupybd 8y agoI’d love something like that. Even if I had to buy say $10 a month and had some credits to burn down each month. I don’t however want to subscribe to every news outlet. There are only a handful of articles I’d read from each.
- samatman 8y agoThis is close enough to how Brave works that you may as well use it and see how you like it. Adoption is a chicken and egg problem; be a chicken.
- wnscooke 8y agoSimple: dogecoin.
- justtopost 8y agoIf its so simple, explain the use case in this situation.

- puranjay 8y agoPterosaurs have been such a staple of dinosaur pop culture that you start thinking they were a relatively "recent" phenomenon. Then you read the timeline mentioned in the article - 190-230M years - and it blows you away how long a history this planet has, and now insignificant and short humanity's history is
- sohkamyung 8y agoJust a note that Pterosaurs aren't dinosaurs, although they are consider as 'flying dinosaurs' by pop culture.
- samatman 8y agoI’ll agree with short. Kicking off the fifth extinction isn’t exactly insignificant; more philosophically, I would suggest that significance of an era can only be appreciated by beings with a sense of the past that reaches past their own birth, so perhaps this is the only significant era.
