I vouched for it not because I agree with it, but because I thought it was non-offensive, and because I thought that it was better for this dispute to occasionally be in the light rather than always in the shadow-text of the show-dead. As far as what's actually happening, I confess I don't understand. Shawn comes across as bright, polite, and occasionally oblivious to social norms. Which is to say, he doesn't seem that far out of place here. I also confess that part of the reason I vouched for this comment was that it struck me as a real-life example of the loudly-humming child in the backseat, with the hands-over-ears seatmate writhing next to him.
