The Lion King was loosely based on Hamlet where the prince's father the king dies by his uncle making it look like an accident. The uncle then takes over the kingdom and the prince goes on a journey. After that, it deviates from Hamlet to have a happy ending. Still a good story for children without the adult themes of Shakespeare. I don't think you can trademark words that are in the public domain in Africa, this is an international trademark dispute.
