- burlesona 8y agoI agree, the Quora explanation is pretty good. TLDR; the evidence that Jesus was a real person is very strong, and stronger than many other historical figures (the article mentions Hannibal), whose existence is not considered controversial. As a religious figure Jesus is inherently controversial, which is what probably attracts the skepticism and interest in trying to cast doubt on his existence.
