What does Slack propose to do about access through a VPN so your real IP is hidden?
Of course in the long term this is just incentive for countries to support balkanisation of the Internet.
- traskjd 8y agoReading between the lines, I think that's what they're suggesting.
- morpheuskafka 8y agoThey just do whatever the bare minimum is to comply with export laws.
- yellow_postit 8y agoIt’s an arms race but can always invest in detecting VPN access — see for example trying to watch Netflix through a VPN.
- tgsovlerkhgsel 8y agoClosing their eyes and pretending it doesn't happen, because with VPN they have plausible deniability/can claim they had no way to detect that they were actually providing the service to someone in a sanctioned country.
