Surely there wouldn't be just one. If you started with a list of common misconceptions, presumably a well-informed person would not have most of them.
e.g. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_common_misconceptions http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_common_misconceptions, which is quite interesting, though it's missing the first two I thought of: gods and the Monte Carlo fallacy.
A more interesting variant of the question might be, what do you believe that most well-informed people don't? That's harder.
- rms 16y agoThe question as written works a little better -- it makes it clear it is more like a college essay where you are required to write about one thing (for 1000 words) and do it in a way that makes you look interesting. "Tell us one thing about the world that you strongly believe is true, but that most people think is not true." - revorad 16y agoSo what do you believe that most well-informed people don't?
- pg 16y agoThe first things that come to mind are all things you can't say, and about those I generally follow my own advice, and don't say them. But I'll try to think if there are any that are uncontroversial.
- pig 16y agoCan't you have someone like Tara Ploughman say it? Do you?
- YuriNiyazov 16y ago"The age of consent fluctuates like hemlines"
- ntoshev 16y agoI don't think he meant things you can prove, more like he is looking for speculations and unique perspectives that may as well be wrong.
