If you grew up in the 1960's & 70's, you may have had a View-Master 3-D stereoscope. As far as I know there was no way to produce your own reels, so you were limited to the commercial ones, which were usually tie-ins with movies and TV shows.

- rhplus 8y agoView-Master was launched in 1939. A friend has a stash of the disks from the early 1940s depicting National Parks and everyday life across the US. You can imagine how amazing a ‘journey’ across the country would have been to someone of that era.
- teilo 8y agoThere was also a very large genre of tourism disks for View-Master.

- cyberferret 8y agoI had one of them as a kid. I believe I had a set of space related disks, and seeing things like Gemini, Soyuz, Apollo spacecraft and moon walks in 3D like that just made it magical for me, and gave 6 year old me a strong passion for aerospace as I grew up.
