Cheap unlimited energy leads to heat pollution per the laws of thermodynamics. Asimov Foundation series first book warned about this in passing. Be careful what you wish for!
- pfdietz 8y agoTriAlpha's scheme was roundly criticized 20 years ago (basically, ions scatter much more readily than they fuse, so their colliding beam scheme can't work.) They responded to these criticisms, but in my opinion their responses were inadequate. And now they're pivoting to cancer treatment! It's not difficult to see where this is going to end up.
