- pmjordan 16y agoIt takes some time to degrade, I can only assume Mail, Safari, etc. leak memory over time (or maybe start fragmenting?). That said, I'm not sure a lawsuit is the appropriate solution. I'm curious whether iOS uses compressed memory swap techniques (e.g. Linux's compcache or whatever it's currently called) and if not, if anyone has tried such a thing on a jailbroken iPhone 3G. I'd give it a go if I had the time.
- JeffJenkins 16y agoI switched back from 3.x to 4.1 about a week after 4.1 came out, and the slowness has been almost unnoticable. And I've now been on 4.1 longer than 4.0, so I haven't degraded.
- eggbrain 16y agoI thought the same thing when I first upgraded my 3G. "Hmm, performance seems similar to 3.1.3, wonder what people were talking about". Then apps started crashing on a daily basis: -Camera sometimes would take a LONG time to boot up -Phone somehow corrupted recent calls -Would sometimes need to open an app 2-3 times for it to finally work -Even unlocking the screen sometimes would lag while I tried swiping 1,2,5,7 times on the screen, thinking it didn't register. I tried downgrading, but the different guides didn't help me (kept getting different iTunes errors even with using iReb). Guess I may be stuck or have to restore every few weeks or so to get it to work well :-|
