Apple Music Connect to Shut Down
- Simulacra 8y agoI think Apple Music and the Music app on the phones have become far too intertwined. It feels like I'm using a shareware version of Real Player at times.
- walterbell 8y agoAt least RealPlayer supported industry standard formats like SMIL. Is there a way to import/export iOS music playlists without iCloud?
- fermienrico 8y agoThat's not surprising given how Apple's ever increasing revenue is now from their services business. Apple doesn't care about HN users, it makes sense to integrate the music app with their paid service as it does the same basic thing - plays music. Upselling and enticing users to get access to Apple music in their music app just makes so much sense from business standpoint.
- votepaunchy 8y agoApple is serving their customers here. With iTunes Match you can upload unlicensed songs and have all your music in one place. There’s plenty more music than available through Apple Music, Google Music, Spotify, etc.
- lern_too_spel 8y agoYou can do the same in Google Play Music for free. https://support.google.com/googleplaymusic/answer/1143668?hl=en https://support.google.com/googleplaymusic/answer/1143668?hl...
- dangus 8y agoDid you turn off "Show Apple Music" in iOS settings? Making this change hides all Apple Music UI including what seems to be all the nags related to subscribing. This isn't really totally made obvious, but it's completely possible to mix purchased music (synced via iCloud Music Library) with manually synced music files that the iTunes store is unaware of. You don't actually need an iTunes Match subscription for this to work, it's just that only your purchased music will sync via cloud, and you sync the rest of your music the "old way" via iTunes, manually.
