Show HN: DOM-free, GPU-based (webrender) UI in react
- cztomsik 8y agoTo be clear, this is still very early version and it's not ready for production in any way, yet I'd love to hear some feedback. If you like it at all, what would you like it to support, what application you'd love to do with it, etc. Code-quality is rather poor and there are no tests, because I don't actually care at this point. I've started this mostly because I wanted to try rust and because I was always wondering if we could just skip the DOM and even native components and somehow just draw UI directly on GPU. Webrender is really close to this idea so it was natural choice. It's not tightly bound to react but my intention (at this point) is to get closer to react-native api and then do trello/slack example apps and maybe few others. Vue3 is on the roadmap but it's probably never going to have any framework-agnostic object model (retained components). It might be useful as a replacement for some of electron applications but it's not going to be any soon, to be honest. A lot of basic stuff is still missing (text input, scrolling, different fonts)
