Of course Intel would say this - even if it wasn't on track.
They don't want people jumping ship, so have to at least set the expectation that things are progressing.
- stock_toaster 8y agoI agree. This all feels /very/ PR driven.
- latch 8y agoYou think it's obvious that Intel would commit securities fraud?
- RobLach 8y ago“Unforeseen issues”
- ksec 8y agoBy your analogy they already did with 10nm. ( And arguably 14nm )
- latch 8y agoI didn't make an analogy. And, I was replying to the fact that my parent said they would lie about it. It's one thing to have been wrong (even carelessly) about 10nm (more than once). It's another to say that a company officer would intentionally lie (to a group of professional investors no less)
- quickben 8y agoLike they did with their initial xpoint announcements? They were cutting zeros off their performance numbers for months to come :p If that wasn't lying, I don't know what is.
- vtesucks 8y agoYou're in the wrong forum if you're going to get caught up in facts. (materially wrong info to shareholders, in this case). Feelings matter more. If its Intel, oracle, windows, etc just say something bad about them.
- ksec 8y ago> It's another to say that a company officer would intentionally lie (to a group of professional investors no less) You will have to look back at every single statement in their pubic and investor meeting to judge wether they were intentionally lying about 10nm. To me, they were.
- dis-sys 8y agocheck those links provided in my reply. Intel has already committed such fraud multiple times. let's don't forget that its ex-CEO sold all his shares before the Meltdown and Spectre went public, yet he managed to walk away free of any charges on such obvious wrongdoings.
- cbg0 8y ago> obvious wrongdoings He's innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. CEOs have to plan ahead of time to sell their shares, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SEC_Rule_10b5-1 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SEC_Rule_10b5-1
- robdachshund 8y agoThey knew about the exploits well in advance and told no one. He had plenty of time to set up a sale. I think it's pretty obvious what happened. He might not get hit with insider training but his actions are dubious. Why do most people on hn seem to implicitly trust companies and the gov?
- raverbashing 8y agoIt's like those progress bars that go smoothly to 99% then get stuck there.
