Humans love to share their problems and evils through it. Platforms like Tumblr take what you've found some interest in and scope in on it to surround you with it. I had a 14 yo cousin who started subscribing to /r/incels and a 'pol' attitude and is simply incapable of being a decent human being. All it takes is group-think and idealogy. People will fall into it, and teens are especially targetable. You two will get through it. Teens have a lot more change to go through.
