Google Introduces API Console
- zbanks 16y agoVery awesome. The prediction API looks really cool, which could hopefully make its way into a mashup. The feed push API seems genuinely useful, although it'd be nice to see a demo of its power/flexibility. I wonder how much Buzz data we can get our hands on, and how easily?

- js4all 16y agoThis is only a subset of Google APIs. I am looking for the maps API. I hope they add more APIs later. It seems to be a great way to monitor and control API usage.
- chrisbroadfoot 16y agoWell, unless you're an enterprise user, a key is not necessary to use the Maps API. If you're referring specifically to the v2 JS API, it's deprecated, so I don't see much value in us adding it to the console.
- tav 16y agoListing the APIs before having to sign up would have been useful though. Here's the current set: * Buzz * Custom Search * Diacritize * Feed * Latitude * Moderator * Prediction * Translate It's nice to have a dashboard, but I'd have preferred support for the traditionally painful (quota-wise) APIs like Google Maps Geocoding and YouTube Uploads. Just knowing that you are about 5 months away from needing a Google Maps API Premier account can be quite useful.

- hassy 16y agoI thought it would be an interactive console, like http://tryruby.org http://tryruby.org. Imagine being able to play with an API like that, with nothing to sign-up for or download and set-up.
- BweezySearch 16y agoI think the biggest news here (which I think Google tried to hide under all the announcements of "new" stuff) is that the web search ajax api was deprecated. There is no no official way to search the entire web with a Google api. I imagine this will be painful to many many sites and applications out there.
- gallerytungsten 16y agoThat's a name that might cause some confusion. When I see the word "API console" I think of this: http://www.apiaudio.com/1608.html http://www.apiaudio.com/1608.html
