It’s quite an interesting experience though, living without a mobile phone for 24h: no Chat, no Maps to find your way, no Calendar to make appointments, no phone to make calls (I solved that by forwarding it to another, or you can take out the SIM and put it in another) Of course make a backup in itunes, copy that backup to second location, verify the backup (eg with the trial edition of iPhone Backup Extractor), then DFU the iPhone and install a fresh iOS, then disable Find my iPhone
