I have no expertise in the subject, but my intuition says this doesn't hold because the wild you're dealing with entire ecosystems, where everything is evolving together. Through the shared evolution they come to some state of equilibrium. Invasive species, evolved in entirely different ecosystems, have adaptations that allow them to take advantage of foreign ecosystems only because they didn't have to evolve those traits alongside competition.
But, like I said, no expertise, just my initial reaction to your comment.
