This is one of the major problems with the healthcare industry in the US. There's zero transparency and it's a dark art to figure out how much money anything costs. It's a back and forth war between multiple different parties that all want to extract value out of the system. Just because you don't pay as much as the sticker price is missing the point a bit, I'd say.
