Everything is inherently politicial? No. Maybe it's because I'm not American but ya'll seem to have lost your collective minds.
- dvtrn 8y agoWe haven't. What we have is a bunch of people with blogs, youtube channels and twitter accounts coupled with a few semesters of sociology trying their best to set the agenda of discussion for the rest of us, and a lot of people giving them deference and attention because who wants to be called whatever the newest -ist for not throwing their shit down and buying the pitch hook, line and sinker? Those people have lost their minds. And don't get me wrong, lot of these things need to be talked about and deserve real attention and solution making. I'm a man of color who wants to talk about a lot of issues going on as much as anyone, but there's a weird group of people who take a lot of these important discussions and themes in our society and extrapolate WAY too far, and get WAY too vociferous with anyone who raises a hand to critique the dogma. It's made even me back off and want to find another group to engage with-though in America with two mainstream political parties that's not an easy task. Is everything political? I agree with you: no, it's not. But I'd argue that politics have become overwhelmingly opinionated (as opposed to an exercise in governance, what it means to govern, and how we allow ourselves to be governed within the confines of the law), and everyone DOES have an opinion, and that's where things start getting weird.
