Every house nevertheless diligently watered their lawn, multiple times a day, to keep up a perfect shade of green. The one house that wouldn't would be shamed relentlessly until they straightened their act. Our neighborhood did not "enjoy" its lawns. It was collectively petrified into maintaining them to avoid public scorn.
