I think a better question is why are there so many {language/framework} conferences? Why should a conference be so narrowly focused when the problems faced by software developers largely don't change based on the choice of tooling, and in fact learning about how different tooling choices provide different costs and benefits when solving these problems is particularly interesting and useful knowledge.
