I've never worked on a product that I thought was evil. But I have worked on a product crufty enough that if I had had a chance to inspect the codebase before taking the job, I would have passed. One of my employers had a Java codebase that had been hacked on for fifteen years or so, and had all sorts of weird stuff in it. Working on it was a huge pain.
