Presumably they're not investigating de Putron because it is clear what the source of his donations is (he has a lot of money and owns a profitable quant trading firm).
- Ste_Evans 8y agode Putron is resident in Guernsey and the holding company is in the British Virgin Islands, from where donations to UK political parties are illegal. Also, there is the question of bribery. From when de Putron's sister-in-law became an MP to when she became a minister, de Putron gave the Conservative Party around 800,000 pounds (this is a lot of money in UK politics). Leadsom's responses to press questions have been evasive. This is all enough to justify a police investigation. Bribery of the UK government is a far more serious crime than nicking some quant signals.
