Fax spamming service, back in the 90s. A database of fax numbers + a farm of boxes with multi-line fax cards + ads that people wanted to be faxed. Not my company, nor was I even the main developer. The owner was a non-technical dude that decided to re-invest money he got from reselling imported veggies on farmer's market, with a bit of help from the local mafia. They ended up having some issues, so the mafia murdered his grown-up son, but let him keep the money. So there he was, trying to cope with life by diversifying into fax spamming... I wish I was making this up.
