I was asked to create a system to track ass in seat time. Basically, we put a sensor which measure body heat and pressure on the seat to determine if the person is sitting or not. Then crunched all this data every quarter and would fire the people who were most absent from the chair regardless of any other metric. We all felt cheated but were given a big raise, some still left tho. We shipped this system to many startups and service companies and consultancy firms. While developing the system we were told that this system is to track health concerns with sitting too much at the desk.
