I used this for text matching in the heuristic spam scanning engine for MX Logic (RIP). It was great to be able to tell the threat team that simple text matches (applied after a normalization process) were now "free" for lengths of 8 bytes or higher. (It was also news to them that longer text matches are generally faster [a result of Boyer-Moore], I guess that's not intuitive).
