Kyrie Irving sorry for saying Earth is flat, blames YouTube 'rabbit hole'
- mindcrime 8y agoIt boggles the imagination that anybody who managed to get past, say, 8th grade, could actually believe any of this flat-earth crap. I mean, believing in some conspiracies is at least slightly understandable... if someone wants to believe "9/11 was an inside job" I can almost picture how one might find that believable. But we have a freaking space station in orbit around Earth right now, that you can literally see with your naked eye, and from which imagery is routinely broadcast. Not to mention all the weather satellites, communications satellites, etc. in orbit, and on which so much of modern life depends. To believe that that stuff isn't real requires a level of "suspension of disbelief" that goes beyond any bound I can even begin to comprehend. How does this stuff happen? What is it that people aren't being taught, or are being taught, or aren't learning, or whatever, that permits a nominally "educated, functional adult" to believe something this totally outlandish?
