I would't necessarily call this a failing of CS education specifically - some, or even most of these questions may have come from self-taught individuals. What does worry me is how many times this question is asked on The Web. This is a sad indictment on the quality of education in general. Given this resource, where information is far easier to find than in any library, there are still so many people who can't be bothered to look things up for themselves.
