Fully agree that is essentially it - however - Google and MS are not slouches. They have the ability to have cracker jack teams work on stuff ... and maybe the ability to spurn out a different product that meets different needs and to not 'alienate' customers. Though I wonder if a bunch of Airtable-like features in Google Sheets would be alienating. They're features that don't have to be used.
