Two lines of code (and Slackware Linux) and I saved 'The Firm' around $250k (NZD)
Was an old Dental system written using a flavour of Unix that I've forgotten now. The system ran over X.25, but we were moving to TCP/IP. In the end I built up a bunch of slackware boxes that redirected tty1a to a telnet session and back again. Worked a treat. And the bonus was - we were then able to remote administer the original system (which wasn't possible before).
But while it was only two lines of code, it did take me a couple of months to figure out a solution. I had to learn a lot to get to that point - but it gave me a great appreciation for Linux.
