When we have an event we are organizing we contact potential sponsors and they give us a check ahead of time or bring a check as they usually want to give a pitch at the event and we use it to purchase drinks, pay for the pizza or other food, plates, etc and sometimes give-a-ways. This could be easier, but usually we purchase more than just food with the sponsor's money and usually the sponsor is attending the event.
