Miss the animated icon, such drama when browsing over dialup.
- kalleboo 8y agoBrowser throbbers were great. The Netscape "meteor shower" felt like it added some cyberpunk mystique to the nighttime browsing experience. - rconti 8y agoI wanted that so badly, but my 486dx33 with 4MB of RAM simply couldn't effectively run X. Later, with a SLIP/PP type connection I could use Windows and Trumpet Winsock to run it, but it felt like such a step backwards compared to using my own Linux box.. it felt hardly worth booting into the primitive world of Windows, even if it did get my a GUI browser. Everything else was so much worse.
