Contactless cards never took off in the US. I have 8 or 9 cards and don’t think any of them are contactless. So you can’t assume that everyone will have a contactless card and at that point you’re back to accepting swipes and cash. By introducing a new payment method they can be sure that everyone has access to it and limit it to just the bracelets.
