Every time I try to do something original I go back to something generic because of the following reasons: - Supporting all devices makes custom design really hard, with need to design for phones, tablets, PC in all kind of browser window size/ratio. Different screen size, dpi and input type. - Accessibility is really hard with out of the ordinary designs. - A website must "give out its content" in seconds. You cannot establish a relation with the user like, say, in games.
