It's by design -- somebody spent a shotload on R&D making an idiot proof machine that still requires an idiot in the loop.
Defense spending is the only politically acceptable "make work" in the USA.
- njarboe 8y agoThat and cost plus contracts. Does not really motivate companies to high efficiencies.
