A contrasting opinion - human effort is finite, but increasing.
If we continue to do things in the way they've been done, the total work produced by human effort will grow linearly with the total amount of human effort used.
If we invest human effort in improving the way things are done, then not only will that effort be available for improving other things, all effort that would have been spent on the task that was improved may be put to other work. This allows us to grow the total work produced by human effort to grow exponentially with the total amount of human effort used.
