If you have remote (and non-seismic) enough area, and build a large enough nuclear plant, it won't matter how lossy your battery or carbon-capture-into-dense-fuel or hydraulics or whatever your favorite storage technology is. Any inefficiencies will be overwhelmed by the fact that you're producing what's essentially arbitrarily much power. Or -- let's start building these colocations today, and let the market determine which piece is more worth R&D dollars to improve.
