This appalling lack of information regarding MFI DRM in the open is exactly the kind of secrecy Apple thrives on!! There's no way for anyone privy to the program to convince outsiders without breaking NDAs. Try dealing with an army of Apple fanboys with that restriction!
Although Apple FULLY supports the USB 2 protocol standard over lightning, it limits access via the MFI program - an inherent DRM. Think app store approval replete with 30% tax simply to allow your app (USB Mass storage) to function on an iDevice, enforced at the electronics layer.
The lightning accessory market is over a billion dollars in size and your bug report will change nothing! It's like filing a bug report to remove the app store approval process.
If you have a friend within Apple, please, please go ask them to confirm my claim. Please, please do your due diligence
