Not a success by any means yet but I got my first 10 customers for Trunk (https://www.trunkinventory.com https://www.trunkinventory.com) by cold-messaging users on e-commerce forums and focusing only on features that would help solve their problem. I still don't have any account management features (forgot password, change password, etc) or even obvious features that would make their lives easier (filtering, proper search, etc). Instead, I dedicated all my energy to making sure inventory syncing covered all edge cases and worked reliably. Furthermore, my current sales process is having people enter their email address on my outdated landing page and then reaching out to them personally to see if they are a good fit. This worked great early on since too many users signing up at the same time can take a massive toll on my servers due to the initial import load (some users have TONS of listings in their stores). I'm now working on a proper marketing page and introducing a scalable way to have users sign up themselves.
