Self esteem is not related to confidence. If you had very low self esteem and someone asked you what the result of 1 + 1 was, you would probably still be 100% confident that the answer is 2. If your emotions or self esteem gets in the way of your logical reasoning, then your reasoning skills were probably not that great to begin with.
