I've been finding ActiveInbox (http://www.activeinboxhq.com/ http://www.activeinboxhq.com/) pretty useful as a way of keeping things organized within gmail. It also is agnostic to google tasks, although I hope they add some more integration there soon. I think the free version is definitely worth it, and I just upgraded to see if the scheduling component is worthwhile.
