“Let me tell you something about Hew-mons, Nephew. They're a wonderful, friendly people, as long as their bellies are full and their holosuites are working. But take away their creature comforts, deprive them of food, sleep, sonic showers, put their lives in jeopardy over an extended period of time and those same friendly, intelligent, wonderful people... will become as nasty and as violent as the most bloodthirsty Klingon. You don't believe me? Look at those faces. Look in their eyes.”
Quark, ST: Deep Space 9
- taneq 8y agoPrecisely. Any reasonably survivable creature varies its behaviour depending on its current condition.
- unstuckdev 8y agoI think this is why they had to bring in an enemy from across the galaxy for DS9. All the other militaristic Alpha Quadrant civilizations had seen humans in war and did not want to get on their bad side again. The Dominion hadn't yet seen first hand what lengths humans will go to when threatened.
- barrow-rider 8y agoFrom the episode "The Siege of AR-558." Well done episode, if kind of on the nose. http://memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/The_Siege_of_AR-558_(episode) http://memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/The_Siege_of_AR-558_(epis...
- colanderman 8y agoOne of the best (and most unique) in the series. The interested viewer should also watch the equally – if not more – powerful "It's Only a Paper Moon", which resolves events from "Siege": http://memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/It%27s_Only_a_Paper_Moon_%28episode%29 http://memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/It%27s_Only_a_Paper_Moon_...
