Monzo is already discussing with US regulators as of February this year (there are some news articles around) so it might be Monzo doing that disruption. Despite a number of other UK challenger banks, I feel like none of them really reach Monzo's level of UX/UI so it seems like a harder issue to solve that one would think, so the idea of Monzo becoming popular in the US doesn't seem so far fetched to me.
