TSA style airport security screening was put in place in the 1970's. The main thing that happened after 9/11 is they changed from using private security firms to having the federal government oversee it.
- twtw 8y agoYou and I have a very different idea of "TSA style." Prior the 9/11, there were essentially no restrictions on what you could carry onboard, and you weren't required to show ID. An associate of mine regularly carried his chainsaw on planes well after the 70s (needed for his occupation) - let me know how that goes today.
